Margaret Tarratus Hitt, age 85, died Thursday, October 12, 2006, at Candler Hospital. The native and lifelong resident of Savannah was a homemaker, having devoted her life to her husband, children and grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Hitt.
Surviving are a son, David S. Carter, Jr. of Rincon; a daughter, Peggy Billingsley of Savannah; and four grandchildren, Catherine Carter of Atlanta, Brandi Billingsley and Beau Billingsley, both of Savannah, and Dolan Carter of Brunswick.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Friday at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Islands Chapel, with The Rev. John Markham officiating.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Islands Chapel.
Interment will follow in Bonaventure Cemetery.
